New features and improvements!
I've been working on making some of the mechanics that were present previously but not clear enough much more readable and obvious by using particle effects this time and along with that, the AI has 2 new actions it can do and the player has 1 new ability they can use!
New player ability: Kick
This is one of the first abilities I've been wanting to make. A simple and old kick. It costs 1 mana stack to use and deal Balance damage to your enemy to help you stun them. However, this is not the only thing it does, parrying the enemy in succession before using Kick will increase the Balance damage that you do with it making it an ideal follow-up after a chain of parries.
New AI Action: Dash, Knife Throw
Something I heard from multiple people was that they could very easily outrun the AI and that it didn't really do much if the gap between them and it was large, to make the encounter more interesting I've given the AI a forward Dash and a Knife Throw that it will use when it's at enough of a distance from the player. The Dash is just gap closer and the Knife Throw does a little bit of Damage to the player keeping them moving while trying to back away from the AI.
What's next?
I've already finished the game loop code that I was working so I can work on the next and first actual boss of the Boss Rush mode but while I do that, I'll quickly polish the kick ability this week with some VFX!
General Changes
- Player gains a lot more Mana from parrying the enemy and dealing damage.
- Parry window has been adjusted to make it a little easier.
- A simple particle effect has been added to when you gain Mana from parrying or attacking.
- Improved hit feedback effects and special ability effects for the AI.
Bug fixes
- Main menu button in pause menu wasn't working as intended.
- Mouse cursor wouldn't disappear and input mode won't switch after closing pause menu.
